Well, I made it back from the frozen nawth and surprisingly my ass did not freeze. Who woulda thunk I would handle single digit temps so well. Go me. Course that whole "bundle up until you look like a stuffed tick" routine was a pain in the ass, but yeah, no frostbite. ;)

Dude, I went sledding! On a big tube!! Down a bunch of different slopes! Too, freakin fun for words! I've got some pics of that, and of me sliding on my ass (intentionally) on a big frozen lake - I'll post those somethime soon. Right now I am still exhausted. Geez, walking in snow will flat wear you out.

Got home late last night as our flight got canceled due to maintenance, but thank goodness we got tickets on another airline, and arrived home to balmy Louisiana. So nice to walk out the door without having to layer on 20 pounds of clothing. :)

Big big thanks to [livejournal.com profile] iris__ for the super sweet package! Loved the card and disc. :)) *snoogles*

I'll be writing more later. It's been laundry and gorcery shopping today, and I'm just beat.

*crawls to the couch to watch Amazing Race*

au revoir

Heading up north to Quebec in the morning! Gonna freeze my ass off but I am so looking forward to seeing and playing in big huge piles of snow. Sledding!!!

Pretty much have everything packed except for the stuff that has to wait til morning after I beautify myself. We're flying out of New Orleans so I gotta get ready a bit earlier. Tracey and Rejean and their bi-lingual brood will pick us up in Quebec. I think it'll be fun staying with them at their new house - they're fun people and their youngest kid Madeline is a mischievous little cutiepie.

I'm gonna miss my little kitty cats! I've been loving up on them this evening, assuring them their aunt Lisa is going to come over and feed them everyday. I wonder if they'll miss me - who knows if they're even all that aware of the time passing. I'm sure I'll miss them way more than they miss me. :)

See you guys next Monday! Enjoy tomorrow's "Alias" premiere. Heh.

Y'all we almost had a white Christmas! Believe it or not there was SNOW in south Louisiana on Christmas day. Snow that actually accumulated! Even more odd was that it all happened south of us - here in Baton Rouge we only got a few teeny tiny snow flurries. :( Fools that we are though we got excited even by that.

Shut up.

Christmas Eve was lots of fun over at Lisa's. The cousins from north Louisiana came over too, making it even more lively. My grandmother braved the cold and joined us all which was nice, though we had to bring her home early. While she was there we were able to get a Five Generations photo.

The baaaaaaby and her predecessors )

We opened gifts, drank, ate, played games, sang karaoke (but the mic didnt work right.) We did pretty much the exact same thing the next day, minus the singing. I vow one day to beat my cousin Jay at Trivial Pursuit. The guy is freakishly good. We played guys against girls, and they (mostly Jay) whipped our butts every single time. Grrrrr.

Had a ball with my digital camera. Best gift ever! It was so cool to take bunches of photos, download and print them and everyone could see them right away!
My favorite pic from the day )

Got some nice gifts: a sweater, Snoopy candle, "Dazed and Confused Flashback edition" dvd, a photo album for my pics, hat, scarf and gloves, and a travel suitcase for my trip to Quebec. Talked to Tracey and she's all, "Yeah, the temp's not too bad today - only 15 below zero." *blink* I am so going to freeze to death next week.

So another Christmas come and gone. I always hate how it seems to end so quickly, but then once it's over it's OVER for me. I've already taken down the decorations and put it all away for next year.

And while it was fun, it feels good to have the house back to normal. :)

I'm listening to Swedish Christmas carols! Hee! I got the sweetest Christmas package from Kakan today - two tapes of Swedish music, including carols which are very, very beautiful. She also sent the Lena Sondag 2004 issue (!), an Isabella clipping, royal clippings, plus these really cool clippings of herself from last year when she won a competition and got to meet a famous Swedish singer. Go Kakan!

And then today I got an email from her, all about her experience of seeing Johan Hallstrom in that play I linked to on my site. Sounds like a fun, wild show - farting, peeing and sex! *snort* She got to meet him afterwards and he signed an autograph for her. She mentioned she has a friend in the U.S., Michelle, who told her about the play, so he asked how to spell my name and wrote "To Michelle". Awwwww. How sweet. And too kind of Kakan to mention me. :)

I'm just kind of giddy right now. Hee.

I've been a picture taking fool with my new camera. I do love it so! It is so cool to be able to preview the pics, download them and print them whenever I want. Woot!

What Flavour Are You? I taste like Beef.I taste like Beef.

I taste like beef. I'm probably made of beef. You are what you eat, they say, and if the title didn't mean something else, I would be a beefeater. I think red meat is good for you. Puts hair on your chest. What Flavour Are You?

Got a most unexpected but highly enjoyable phone call from Kakan last night - phoning all the way from Sweden! We talked for a good half hour at least. I don't think her parents are going to be happy with the bill! But it was fun!

******

This morning didn't go so well. Lisa and I spent it cleaning up dad's house where some jerk(s) threw a huge concrete block through one of his windows last night. He wasn't home at the time - he noticed it immediately when a friend drove him home last night. They called the police, filed a report and all. The police determined that whoever did it didn't come in after busting the window. Aside from the busted window nothing else was disturbed. My dad thinks they stole some expensive saw he had but we don't think that's likely. He thought they stole the vaccum cleaner too - until I found it. I'm relieved they didn't take anything, but I'm so pissed that some punks vandalized his place like that. I guess it was teenagers. Who knows if we'll ever find out.

*******

All but finished up the Christmas shopping this afternoon. I still have to get my mom a couple of things but other than that, I'm done. We stopped at Jason's Deli for a late lunch/early supper - love their turkey melt with Russian dressing!

*********

One of the cats has knocked off one of the ornaments and while I found the hook, I cannot find the thing the hook, uh, hooks onto. Not explaining that too well. Heh. Anyway, hopefully neither I nor the cats will painfully step on it one of these days.

ETA I got the most fun Christmas card from [livejournal.com profile] em47, complete with a Toastery manip to die for. :) *snoogles*

Aie-yie-yie, my back is killing me! Good heavens, I sound like my grandmother getting in and out of my chair.

The source of my soreness? I did all of my Christmas decorating yesterday! Dude, that's a lot of stuff to do at once.

I had forgotten how heavy the fake tree is. Ooof. I did pretty well though, and did not lose my patience despite the fact that the middle section's lights did not work.

Actually they DID work, it just took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out I had left one of the thingies unplugged. D'oh! I was busy changing fuses and checking the bulbs, thinking oh no, I'm going to have to get a new tree. *shakes head* But I didn't get mad. Cause, ya know, stupid people are happy people. ;)

So I got the tree up and decorated while my cats had an absolute blast playing in the box. So cute! Then I put the garland, lights and ribbon on the bookcase, put the nativity set out, the wreaths and other knickknacks, then did the table setting.

Whew! I was beat. But it's so worth it - I think it looks so pretty! Definitely worth an aching back.

The cats love it too - they've got the whole area under the tree to snooze on since I have no presents wrapped yet. They haven't tried to climb the tree yet but I have had to fuss at them for trying to chew on the low branches. I'm hoping they won't be too naughty this year. That whole "Santa's watching" thing doesn't work too well on cats. ;)

I love tv. I really do.

Last night was so much fun seeing The Nanny reunion special. So good to see the cast get together and, you know, really behave as though they truly enjoy each others company.

Tonight was the Charlie Brown Christmas special. *sniff* Linus chokes me up everytime. And the dancing! LOVE the dancing.

As for TAR, I am so happy my favorite team came in first tonight! Sorry to say the team I despise did well this leg.

And, now it's Jon Stweart.

Yes, I love tv.

*squeeeeee*

I got my first digital camera today!! I am SO excited y'all! It's my early Christmas gift from my mom - what a sweetheart she is.

I had been wanting one for a long while, but didn't know what to get. I saw [livejournal.com profile] krisnreine LJ entry about helping her cousin picked out one. *snoogle Kris* I wrote down what she recommended and checked diligently to make sure it would work on my old dinosaur of a pc. Yup.

Im now the proud owner of a Canaon A75 3.2 megapixel digital camera! And I firgured out how to work it and download the pics already. Phew. Y'all have no idea how unbelievably nervous I get about install and working all this new stuff. But I did it right - go me!

Wanna see some pics?

I am just so thrilled with the quality!! This camera is gonna be so great to have when I go to Quebec next month.

Yay, I finally got some Christmas shopping done! I feel much better now that I have gotten a good start on my Christmas list.

My mom and I decided to hit some shops today. We avoided the mall, and did really well at the places we went to. We were amazed at how quickly we got in and out of places - traffic wasn't horrible, we found what we were looking for and the lines weren't atrocious. The shopping gods were smiling upon us.

We got the cutest little red dress with matching booties and hat for my nephew's newborn daughter (I'm a great aunt now!). I think it might be a tad too big for her but it was much too adorable to pass up. Hee. She's gonna look so cute in it!

Afterwards we picked up some po-boys and headed over to my sister's to see her decorations. Her tree looks SO beautiful - a ton of the clear lights which I love. She had already shopped and wrapped many gifts so there were loads of presents under the tree already. Can't wait til Christmas Eve when we go over there to celebrate!

Had a couple of Lisa's very good Bloody Mary's (the vodka really sneaks up on me)and we played Trivial Pursuit - Lisa and I won! Go us. I'm really bad at the computer game questions though - totally clueless.

heee!

Just finished my favorite part of Thanksgiving - my toasted turkey sandwich. Oh sure the big meal earlier was delicious, but still I love me some leftovers for my sandwich.

And we've got plenty leftovers since we had such a small group this year. Most everybody was off with their in-laws, so it was me, Mama, Kirk and Dad. I did a bang up job of carving the turkey - go me! Mama did a super job on the dishes, especially the cornbread dressing. And her bread pudding was heaven. Good stuff.

Afterwards I helped clean everything up, and we played Trivial Pursuit: 90s. Poor Dad was completely clueless! He and I were a "team", and yep, we won, but I felt bad for him because he was so confused. But even so we had fun - lotta laughs. Kirk had some trouble on sports questions which was surprising. He should have gone with his first instincts as they mostly turned out to be right. The category that gave most of us fits was Wired, the technology one. I thought I would be fairly good at it, but not so much.
