going visiting has it's benefits
Feb. 22nd, 2004 01:33 pmWent over to my sister Patti's yesterday to visit her and her husband Woody. I was just bringing her the burned copy of Lyle Lovett's latest cd, but I'm the one who ened up with the better deal. When I got there Woody was outside washing one of his BIG trucks. When he caught site of my puny car, all covered in cat paw prints, he took it upon himself to wash it. What a sweetie!
They had just fried a big batch of catfish and potatoes so I got loaded down with some good food to take home. And I got to drive Patti's new toy - her pretty Honda Pilot SUV. It's really not one of those obscenely huge ones, but it felt like a friggin' bus to me! It drove like a charm though - sooooo smooth. We were playing around trying to figure out the navigation thing it has. I typed in my address and sure enough up came the map of it on the screen. I drove it out on the highway and the compuer voice came on telling us where to go. Pretty cool.
We had no intention of driving all the way my house (about 25 minutes away) so I turned around and headed back to her place. That's when the voice came on telling us to make a U-turn as soon as possible, and the screen kept showing this huge U-turn graphic, all but shouting at us that we were going the wrong way!
Granted the navigation thing is pretty cool but my favorite two features in the vehicle were the heated seats (niiiiice) and the radio controls that were on the steering wheel. It's a very classy looking SUV, and I love the silver color she got it in. I'm envious. We definitely need to go on a road trip. Soon.
