Not so good news. Turns out my dad does indeed have Alzheimer's. It's in the early stages, and he is now on Nemenda which is supposed to help in slowing the progression.
He had actually had all the tests run last Aug., and was put on Nemenda then. He did take the medicine, but not in the correct dosage. Also we don't think it fully registered with him when the doctor told him intially about Alzheimer's. We had her make a point yesterday to explain it a little more forcefully. Daddy has always, since I was a kid, had trouble focusing on what's been said.

Anyway, our presence with him seem to reassure him quite a bit. He really appreciated me and my sisters being there with him. Afterwards Lisa and I took him home. I sorted out all his medicine and put them in the daily containers, and Lisa did a great job on sorting through his bills and balancing his checkbook, which was not as bad a mess as she had feared.

He was in a real good mood this morning but he had forgotten I had already included the Nemenda in the daily medicine box, and he went ahead and took once from the package, so he got a double dose today. I had to explain it all to him again. Guess I'm going to have to watch that more closely.

Good news: Surfing is more fun now that I download Mozilla Firefox. I saw where Kris recommend it to Em, so gave it a go. I like it a lot. No annoying pop-ups, and it's much faster than IE which was just being a bitch for me lately. I miss the alt tage text when I hover my mouse over photos, but that's minor. Very pleased. :)
